Introduction
Saturday 10 August will be spent in an operatic atmosphere with the Philharmonia third concert.
Conductor Ville Matvejeff, extremely passionate about the genre, will lead the Philharmonia at the occasion of this Opera Gala. Matvejeff is the Artistic Director of the Savonlinna Opera Festival and has also performed as a pianist himself around the world as soprano Karita Mattila's lieder partner.
The evening's programme is full of well-known opera arias and ensembles, brought to life by wonderful soloists, soprano Marjukka Tepponen and bass Timo Riihonen as well as two promising rising stars tenor Johan Krogius and soprano Sonja Herranen.
Duration of the concert is apporoximately 2h, including 30 min intermission.
The Philharmonia's concerts at Mikkeli Music Festival in 2023-2026 are supported by the Jane and Aatos Erkko Foundation.
