Introduction

The Mikkeli Music Festival has selected Cuban-Finnish pianist Anton Mejias as its Young Artist of 2024. Meijas has already embarked on an international career as he has performed as a soloist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic under the baton of conductor Tarmo Peltokoski in the summer of 2023. He has also been awarded the 2024 Musikfest Bremen Förderpreis Deutschlandfunk.

The program for Mejias's recital at the Mikkeli Music Festival will include music by Johann Sebastian Bach, with whom Mejias has had a particularly close relationship since a very young age.
