May Day is celebrated in Kenkävero with good music and food. Flutist and singer Jenni Hanika’s solo concert, “Roots and Wings,” will delight listeners during lunch, coffee breaks, or simply while they soak up the May Day atmosphere. The concert begins at 1:00 p.m. and lasts approximately 45 minutes. Admission is free.

Introduction

Jenni Hanikka is a flutist and singer who has participated in numerous national and international projects across different continents. Her roots lie in Nordic and Finno-Ugric traditional music, but her musical projects have taken her to Mongolia, China, Borneo, Nepal, and India, as well as Mali and Denmark. In her solo concert “Roots and Wings,” Hanikka combines traditional melodies and her own compositions with live looping and improvisation. The performance offers the listener a musical journey in which her Finnish roots accompany her as she travels from one continent to another.
