Introduction

Embark on an unforgettable journey deep into the heart of music and Bruckner, interpreted by the Philharmonia Orchestra and Chief Conductor Rouvali!

A magical and rare musical experience awaits the second Philharmonia Orchestra guest concert on 9 August, when the London-based star orchestra will perform under the baton of its charismatic principal conductor, Santtu-Matias Rouvali.

The concert is a real treat for classical music lovers, as the main number on the programme is the Symphony No 7 by the master composer Anton Bruckner, who is celebrating his 200th birthday.

Austrian composer Anton Bruckner is recognised as one of the most important symphonists of the Romantic era. A deeply religious man, Bruckner composed eight complete and one unfinished symphonies in his lifetime, characterised by monumental architecture, devout dignity and echoes of Wagner's music; according to the legend, Bruckner's three passions in life were religion, Wagner and beer.

Concert duration approx. 2 hours, inc. 30 min intermission.

The Philharmonia's concerts at Mikkeli Music Festival in 2023-2026 are supported by the Jane and Aatos Erkko Foundation.
