Introduction
Pepe Willberg – a man, a legend, and a beloved interpreter – will perform in concert on August 4th with his band and St. Michel Strings. The concert will be conducted by the festival’s Artistic Director, Erkki Lasonpalo.
Over a career spanning an uninterrupted seven decades, Willberg has performed rock, pop, jazz, schlager, and many other genres. He is known for his powerful interpretations, flexible tenor voice, wide repertoire, and numerous evergreen hits of Finnish popular music, such as Saat miehen kyyneliin (“You Can Bring a Man to Tears”), Aamu (“Morning”), Elämältä kaiken sain (“I Got Everything from Life”), Rööperiin, Toiset meistä (“Some of Us”), Kuka kertoisi minulle (“Who Would Tell Me”), and Tällä kadulla (“On This Street”).
This 80th anniversary concert takes the audience on a journey through Pepe’s stories and the most loved classics selected from his incredible career.
“I’m excited that in my anniversary year I can perform a diverse selection of my work from over the years with top musicians and at various events. I’m also grateful that my singing voice still works and that I have the stamina to perform demanding concerts. The positive feedback from the audience gives me tremendous energy,” says Pepe Willberg.
