Among the most impressive up-and-coming Finnish jazz artists are singer Riikka Keränen and pianist Juho Valjakka, who will be performing at Landhaus Kekkola in July, creating a magical atmosphere with classic film scores and lesser-known gems. Keränen’s soulful voice, Valjakka’s refined musicality, and the artists’ captivating and skillful ensemble playing come together in the duo’s jazz-infused interpretations of, among others, the timeless songs of Henry Mancini and Michel Legrand.
Singer-songwriter Riikka Keränen is one of the most notable and distinctive jazz artists on the Finnish music scene. In addition to her own jazz quartet, Keränen has become known through the vocal ensemble Signe—which has been recognized with Emma and Teosto award nominations—as well as through the ranks of the Emma Award-winning children’s music group Megasak.
Juho Valjakka is one of the most sought-after young Finnish jazz pianists. Nominated for an Emma Award for his debut album, Valjakka has performed over the years with several top ensembles (including the UMO Helsinki Jazz Orchestra and Lassy–Eskola Nordic Stew) at major domestic festivals and prestigious European jazz clubs.
