Tatu Kauppinen


Cellist TATU KAUPPINEN (b. 2000) was born in Helsinki and is currently studying with Professor Natalie Clein at the Rostock University of Music and Theatre, having previously studied with Tuomas Lehto, Hannu Kiiski and Marko Ylönen at the Sibelius Academy. He was awarded a special prize at the Turku International Cello Competition in 2018 and 3rd prize at the Young Virtuosos competition in Bulgaria in 2017.

Kauppinen has performed at the Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival, at the Helsinki Festival, at the Naantali Music Festival and at the Kauniainen Music Festival. He is a member of the Seele string quartet, which was given the Tempo award by Radio Classic for Ensemble of the Year 2019. Kauppinen plays a Pierre & Hippolyte Silvestre cello on loan from a private owner and a Husson-Mariet cello bow owned by the Finlandia Hall Rotary Club.
