Seppo Hovi

The living legend of Finnish music world, piano virtuoso Seppo Hovi began his professional music career at the Youth Department of the Sibelius Academy. After accompanying Finnish artists such as Danny, Kirka, and Katri-Helena, as well as spending years teaching, he transitioned into a freelance career.

Television brought him national recognition through shows such as Tenavatähti, Seppo Hovin seurassa, and BumtsiBum, which earned him several Venla Awards and a Koura Honorary Diploma.

Hovi has collaborated extensively with a wide range of vocalists, performing as a pianist-host and orchestra conductor in popular concert settings. He has been named Speaker of the Year, and the Finnish Musicians’ Union has honored him with a special recognition award. The Finnish jazz community has named him Jazz Legend of Finland No. 24. In 2012, he was
awarded the honorary title of Music Counselor, and in 2020, he received the Pro Finlandia Medal of the Order of the Lion of Finland.
