Raimo Paaso

Raimo Paaso graduated from the Sibelius Academy with a Master of Music degree and an "A-level" cantor qualification, majoring in organ performance. He has studied choral conducting under the guidance of Heikki Liimola and Timo Nuoranne, among others. Paaso has also completed specialized studies in conducting and has directed major works of sacred music, including Bach's St. John and St. Matthew Passions, the Mass in B Minor, and Handel's Messiah oratorio.

From 2002 to 2014, he served as the artistic director of the Sofia Magdalena Chamber Choir and led the Oratorio Choir of the Diocese of Oulu from 2015 to 2024. Paaso was also the artistic director and a tenor singer for the Voces vocal ensemble, founded in 2021. In 2025, he moved from his role as a diocesan secretary at the Chapter of the Diocese of Oulu to become the acting cantor of Kittilä Parish.

In 2022, Raimo Paaso was awarded the honorary title of Director musices for his merits as a church musician and music expert.
