Maritta Manner

Maritta Manner is a versatile music professional who holds a Master of Music degree and a pedagogical qualification from the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki. She has also completed music degrees at the Tampere University of Applied Sciences and the Jyväskylä Conservatory. Manner has further deepened her expertise, particularly in lied music, at the prestigious Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin, focusing on vocal music and collaboration with singers.

Currently, Manner works at the Theatre Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki and the Music Institute Juvenalia. Her extensive experience spans both the theatrical and orchestral fields; she has previously worked at the Helsinki City Theatre and the Tampere Workers' Theatre and performed with several leading orchestras, such as the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra, Kymi Sinfonietta, and the Guards Band. Additionally, she is an active interpreter of contemporary music, performing with the Nyky Ensemble and at numerous music festivals both in Finland and abroad.

Manner is particularly distinguished as a lied pianist. Together with tenor Juho Punkeri, she won the first Helsinki Lied competition in 2015, and the duo has also achieved international success by reaching the finals of the International Student Lied Duo Competition (ISLDC).
