Henrik Sandås (b. 1981) is a bandoneon artist whose repertoire ranges from Argentine tango and tango nuevo to Baroque music, contemporary art music, jazz, modern folk music, and improvisation. Sandås is widely admired as a sensitive and soulful musician whose experiential and narrative style of playing has captivated audiences in both Europe and South America.
In recent years, Sandås has performed extensively with various symphony orchestras as both a soloist and an arranger. In the summer of 2025, he made his debut, among other appearances, as a soloist with the BBC Concert Orchestra in London. He is also an active chamber musician and has premiered several works composed specifically for the bandoneon.
Alongside his solo career, Sandås is known as a charismatic ensemble musician in groups such as FREVO!, Maans–Perkola–Sandås, Quartet Ajaton, Henrik Sandås Quintet, Henrik Sandås Trio, Tanguedia Quintet, and Nuevo Quinteto Otra Vez.
Sandås also engages in multidisciplinary collaborative productions with poets, composers, dancers, actors, and other artists. In these projects, he explores the expressive possibilities of the bandoneon with an open-minded approach, as part of a dialogue between different art forms.
