Dominante

Founded in 1975, Dominante is one of the leading mixed choirs in Finland and an ambitious forerunner when it comes to Finnish choral music. Dominante started as a student choir within the Helsinki University of Technology (today Aalto University), and even at present, most of its 60 members are Aalto University students or alumni.
Dominante’s repertoire spans from the Renaissance all the way to contemporary choral works. Modern Finnish a cappella music is one of its core components, and out of classical Finnish composers, Jean Sibelius’ and Toivo Kuula’s works hold a prominent place in the choir’s repertoire. Dominante is frequently invited to perform with some of the most well-known Finnish orchestras, and big orchestral works have become one of the cornerstones of Dominante’s repertoire.
